Feds Still Arresting Medical Marijuana Patients PDF Print E-mail

The amendment that was before the House of Representatives that would stop taxpayer funding for federal raids on medical marijuana patients failed.Bong

What this means is that in the states where medical marijuana has been approved, the federal government is still able to use your money to put sick people into prisons.

You read that right! You can be in a wheelchair with your prescription in your right hand and your doctor by your side, and the Feds still want to put you into prison. Sick people in prison. That's ludicrous!

Michigan Cop Avoids Charge for Pot Brownies PDF Print E-mail

Pot Brownies

This article really makes me wonder "who's in charge here?"

The cops can do whatever they want and the poor saps who got busted are still facing criminal charges for doing, in essence, the same thing the cop did.

Neither should be criminal offenses, but try using that as a defense if you're NOT a cop!

And what about the stealing? Isn't anyone going to rap him on the knuckles with a ruler for that one?

Olsen v. United States: Part I

Submitted by Carl Olsen

I started drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes when I was in High School in the late 1960s. My first reaction when someone offered me a marijuana cigarette was absolute fear that I had just been invited into the gates of hell. After some friendly persuasion from a close friend, I tried it and liked it so well that I stopped drinking alcohol

You may not remember those times, but it was the Vietnam War era. Although there was nothing called a Patriot Act at that time, it had not been so long since McCarthyism had spread the fear of being associated with Communism. Protesting the Vietnam War was akin to being labeled a Communist in earlier years and smoking pot became associated with this peace movement protesting the Vietnam War.

Sign This Petition!! (Legalize It!!) PDF Print E-mail

The following info came from a petition I found at Care2.

Reason #1

Many of our citizens are kept in dark, cold, overcrowded jails just for using a substance less dangerous than alcohol and cigarettes. How would this help them even if pot were a dangerous drug like cocaine?
Drugs are not a political issue- they are a MEDICAL ISSUE.

Reason #2

Legalization of any substance helps control and regulate the sales, and many countries have found that this cuts down on drug problems.
Would you really rather have people buy ANY drug from a back alley dealer?

Alabama's 13A-12-231 Bad Law! PDF Print E-mail

Alabama is taking "baby steps" in loosening its penalties for cannabis offenders, but it appears that a "giant leap" would be indicated when it comes to one particular cannabis law in the state.

The law (13A-12-231) states "Any person who knowingly sells, manufactures, delivers, or brings into this state, or who is knowingly in actual or constructive possession of, in excess of one kilo or 2.2 pounds of cannabis is guilty of a felony, which felony shall be known as "trafficking in cannabis."

If the quantity of cannabis involved is in excess of one kilo or 2.2 pounds, but less than 100 pounds, such person shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of three calendar years and to pay a fine of $25,000.

Okay, so I agree that people do not need to be selling cannabis. The problem with this law is that if you happen to have more than 2.2 pounds in your house or growing in your garden, even with no intent to ever sell or distribute, (and no other evidence to support trafficking, such as scales, boxes of baggies, large sums of money) you can be hit with a Class A Felony and labeled a "drug dealer" by the state of Alabama.
