The first thing out of our lawyer's mouth was, "Now let's talk about the most important thing before we go in. Where's my money?" I don't know why I was shocked, but I was. He handed us a motion to withdraw as counsel that he planned to file that day if we didn't come up with money. This guy is setting a trend here, and not a good one. Everytime we try to talk to him, we get the same reply "Where's my money?" At this point, I'm not sure I even want him representing us. He shows no hope that any of our motions will be approved, he acts like it's a big pain in his you-know-what just to show up in court, and why would any lawyer try to derail his clients right before they are set to go in front of the judge? I keep trying to find something redeemable in this guy's actions, but it just isn't there. Do we let him quit and go with a public defender? Anyone have any advice? We have the golden opportunity to make positive change here in Alabama. Since the medical marijuana bill languished in the House until it was too late in the session, that option is gone for another year. And obviously, this is a timely issue for us. Our next court date is June 28th. We have been told that it would greatly benefit our cause if we could get other members of the church to show up and testify that this is a true religion that we have been practicing since before our visit from the cops on September 15th, 2006. Now, how does that happen? To declare openly that this is our chosen religion is to invite a visit from the cops. So, no we didn't publicly declare anything beforehand. And since we already had the dreaded visit from the cops, there's no reason to hide anymore. So, of course, we went public AFTER. Any advice? Anyone? I honestly don't know what to do next. HELP!!! |
