Let’s just suppose that I have two plants in my herb garden.

One of these plants has been used successfully in medicine for as far back as history is recorded. It was even used in the “holy anointing oil” in Exodus. Plant 1 has never been proven to cause any harm to anyone, ever.

The other plant has also been used in medicine for centuries. But this plant has been used traditionally to induce abortions.  Plant 2 has been associated with numerous toxicities and death.

Which one should be illegal?

Of course, Plant 2 should be illegal.

It’s not. It’s name is Pennyroyal. You can look it up and see for yourself. And you can buy it at most nurseries.

Plant 1 should be the legal one here. It’s not. But because of all the mis-information that has been “pounded into us”, we’re afraid of this plant. C’mon folks, it’s just a plant.

It’s name is Cannabis. You might have heard it called marijuana. You can look that up and see for yourself too.

That’s what I love about this “Information Age” we live in. We can do our own research and make up our own minds about what we do and do not believe.  We can make our own “informed decisions” based on the valid findings of our research.

It’s time for our laws to reflect that.
